Academic entry requirements
  • Completed Year 10 or equivalent
  • Demonstrate good passing grades in main academic subjects + English
  • Certified copies of three most recent school reports (in English).​ 
English entry requirements A minimum of ONE of the below requirements:
 
  • AEAS strong upper intermediate range - AEAS score of 57 or above OR
  • Evidence of studying for a minimum of two years at a school where all subjects, except languages, were taught in English OR
  • IELTS 5.5 overall with min of 5.0 in all skills OR
  • TOEFL - iBT58 with 16 in writing OR
  • UTS College English AE3 with pass grade OR
  • Pearson Test of English PTE (Academic) Overall 46, minimum 38 for all skills OR
  • C1 Advanced Overall 162 NO skill less than 154 OR
  • C2 Proficiency Overall 162 NO skill less than 154.
Academic English Levels 4 and 5.
Our Academic English (AE) program will fully prepare students for the English language and academic skills demands of tertiary studies at UTS College, UTS and other universities.
Approx. class hours At least 30 hours of face-to-face lessons from Monday to Friday plus Saturday morning activities for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. View example weekly timetables for each stream here.
Leads to the following degrees and majors On successful completion of the two-year program, students can transition directly to their selected UTS bachelor’s degree.
Articulation requirements A Level between 7 to 13 points for UTS degrees. Pass in all diploma subjects to gain credit points towards a related diploma at UTS College.

What subjects will students study?

Depending on the stream chosen, students will study the following four AS Level Cambridge International subjects:

AS Level

  • Commerce stream: Mathematics, Computer Science, Accounting, Economics
  • IT stream: Mathematics, Computer Science and select two other subjects: Accounting and Economics; OR Biology and Chemistry; OR Physics and Chemistry
  • Engineering stream: Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry
  • Science stream: Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry

Depending on the stream chosen, students will study the following three A Level Cambridge International subjects:

A Level

  • Commerce stream: Mathematics / Computer Science, Accounting, Economics
  • IT stream: Mathematics, Computer Science and select one other subject: Accounting or Economics; Biology; Chemistry or Physics
  • Engineering stream: Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science / Chemistry
  • Science stream: Mathematics / Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry

Depending on the stream chosen, students can choose to study the following UTS first year (diploma) subjects:

AS Level

  • Commerce stream: Business Statistics, Accounting and Accountability
  • IT stream: Intro to Information Systems, Web Systems
  • Engineering stream: Foundation Maths, Physical Modelling or Chemistry 1
  • Science stream: Cell Biology, Chemistry 1

A Level

  • Commerce stream: Economics for Business, Accounting, Business and Society
  • IT stream: Networking Fundamentals, Programming 1
  • Engineering stream: Mathematics 1, Programming 1 or Chemistry 2
  • Science stream: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry

Assessment methods

Assessment methods for the UTS Cambridge Accelerator include well-designed assessment activities to prepare for the Cambridge public exams.

Academic English assessments support the development of four key English language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. 

Diploma assessments are designed to align with UTS first year subject assessments. Students are assessed on group work and projects, preparing students for university assessment.
